PP-152 rigging case adjourned till January 6

An election tribunal Tuesday adjourned the hearing of PP-152 alleged rigging case till January 6.

The tribunal comprising Muhammad Rasheed Qamar heard the election petition filed by Khawaja Salman Rafique, the Advisor to the Punjab Chief Minister on Health, who had challenged election of PTI MPA Murad Rass from PP-152 in 2013 general elections.

During the hearing, Rafique along with his counsel appeared before the tribunal to get his statement recorded in the matter. However, the tribunal was requested to adjourn the proceedings as respondent MPA’s counsel could not appear due to illness.

At this, the tribunal adjourned the hearing till January 6 and directed Rafique to appear again on January 6 to get his statement recorded.

Rafique through an election petition had questioned the election of MPA Murad Rass from PP-152. He alleged that the respondent MPA committed rigging to secure his victory.
