Chandio says court decision doesn’t reflect justice in Dr Asim’s case

Sindh government spokesman, Maul Bux Chandio, Monday expressed disappointment over a court’s decision rejecting a report of the investigation officer in Dr Asim Hussain’s case and ordering his re-arrest.

“Had the justice been done, it would have been visible,” regretted Chandio at a press conference.

He lamented the accusation that Sindh government was interfering in Dr Asim Hussain case, saying had this allegation held water the result would have been different.

Responding to a question, he said whether or not to challenge the decision of the court would depend upon the decision of Dr Asim’s family. He expressed his shock that even after keeping Dr Asim Hussain in a 90-day custody need is being expressed for further investigation.

Chandio said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) respects courts and that nobody would have raised any question had justice been visibly done in Dr Asim’s case.

Lauding performance of the law enforcers, the Sindh government spokesman credited the joint operations of police and Rangers for what he said restoring peace in Karachi. “Our government is proud of them,” he added.

He said the government never expressed lack of trust in any institution.

He further said that the Rangers operate under the chief minister and the government has complete trust in the paramilitary force.

Chandio also paid tributes to Rangers for their sacrifices in the line of duty.

Commenting on what he called a ‘grand alliance’, he said Nawaz Sharif had made a similar alliance in the past as well. “It is not a ‘grand alliance’ in Sindh; it is ‘grenade alliance’” he added.

He said of the parties that have formed ‘grand alliance’ in Sindh, only one of them has representatives in the province. Criticising the rest of them, Chandio quoted an Urdu proverb ‘Begani shadi me Abdullah Dewana’.
