An audit of 2014-15 has found an irregularity of Rs13.50 million in the evening shift of model colleges run by Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

According to the audit report, the evening shift model colleges, which also run school classes from grade 1 to 10, collected Rs13.50 million from the students under the head of tuition fee in 2005 against an FDE notification (F.6.4/2005) which announced a fee waiver for school students.

The audit report has revealed that Rs 5.39 million was recovered from students of Islamabad Model College for Boys I-8/3, Rs6.5 million from students of Islamabad Model College for boys F-7/3 and Rs2.9 million from the students of Islamabad Model College for girls F-10/2.

The college administrations said, according to the audit report, that the amount collected from the students was paid to daily wages teachers and other staff on account of their salaries. The audit observes that fee was collected in violation of the notification.

The audit report had been sent to the federal education secretary for a probe and fix responsibility, however, no action has been taken against the responsible up till now.
