An exclusive meeting for fashion designers was convened at Federation House under the chairmanship of Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) Fashion Designing Committee Chairman Shahzad Mobeen.
The meeting was attended by the leading fashion designers from Karachi with an objective to nourish the fashion industry and to bring it in the reach of the common man.
The fashion designing committee chairman concentrated on the importance of creating fashion trends for the common man in terms of adoption and affordability. The meeting was attended by FPCCI Senior Vice President Abdul Rahim Janoo, Vice President Ikram Rajput, FPCCI Vice President Waseem Vohra, FPCCI Vice President Shahnawaz Ishtiaq, Senator Haseeb Khan, former chief CPLC Ahmed Chinoy and FPCCI Assistant Manager and FPCCI Fashion Designing Committee Coordinator Zain Amin.
Renowned fashion expert Nadia Mistry said that Pakistani fashion needs some new trends but with a flavor of cultural attributes. Fashion expert Munna Mushtaq showed his concern on the lack of unity among the local fashion designers and the fact that everyone is in competition with each other. He said that the Pakistani fashion designers needed to compete with international fashion designers.
FPCCI Fashion Designing Committee Secretary Ferzana said that fashion designers can bring initiatives via this committee of the FPCCI on Fashion Designing and can showcase their work in international exhibitions. Fashion Expert Kashif Samad said that there should be fashion trends for masses instead of targeting niche market of the elite society.
The meeting was also attended by the fashion faculties of Indus Valley School of Arts and Indus University, who asked to promote professional education of fashion and a proper induction of fresh fashion graduates in the industry for their career development.
Renowned cosmetic surgeon Dr M. A. Jawad asked to have a common agenda by all representatives from fashion industry instead of competing locally.
FPCCI Fashion Designing Committee Chairman Shahzad Mobeen further added that FPCCI is providing a vast platform for all the fashion representatives in Pakistan for holding their exhibitions and fashion shows.
