285 seminaries receiving foreign funds

About 285 seminaries in the country receive funds and other support like training of clerics and teachers and curriculum development from foreign Islamic countries.

According to Interior Ministry sources, 147 seminaries and madrassas in Punjab, 95 in Gilgit Baltistan, 30 in Balochistan, and 12 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one in Sindh are getting funds.

The funding and other support is being provided by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Turkey and Iraq.
