The Sindh High Court (SHC) has issued arrest warrant against Investigation Officer (IO) of a missing person’s case for not complying with its earlier direction to ascertain the whereabouts of a man, Adnan Shikoh, who went missing in 2014.
SHC bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, was hearing the petition filed by M.K. Shikoh, a practicing lawyer, who moved the court for the recovery his son Adnan Shikoh.
Adnan has been missing since May 26, 2014. In the last hearing, IO had stated that the kidnapping case had been registered and all possible efforts were being made to locate the whereabouts of the missing man. The court had directed him to appear before the court but he failed to comply with the court’s order.
The court issued bailable arrest warrants against IO through police high ups and directed him to ensure his appearance in the next hearing.
Earlier, the petitioner submitted that his son was forcefully picked up by the law enforcers outside Drigh road railway station when Adnan was coming back from Islamabad along with his family on May 26, 2014. “I tried my best to know the whereabouts of my son but all in vain,” M.K. Shikoh said.
Citing DG Rangers Sindh, IGP Sindh, SHO Drigh Road Police Station and chief secretary Sindh as respondents, the father of the missing man, asked the court to direct the respondents to recover his son and produce him before the court.
