KP governor makes interfaith unity call

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has said that it is the time to promote interfaith harmony and strengthening national unity irrespective of the religion, cast or creed for standing united as one nation against all the challenges we are faced with and for the development of Pakistan.

He said we need to pledge ourselves to stand together to repel the evil of our common enemy. He said Pakistan is a country where there are no compartments of minorities or majorities. Whether we are Muslims, Christians Hindus or belong to any other religion we are united on the issues of national importance to confront our mutual enemy as a nation. He said steps been taken for the socio economic uplift of people of various religions.

Addressing a well-attended prestigious ceremony of Christmas held at Edwardes College, Peshawar on Sunday the governor said that non-Muslims communities of our society are important partners in our struggle for ensuring prosperous future of Pakistan. Advisor to CM KP for minorities, Sardar Sooran Singh, member NA, Azeem Federek, members of parliament, representatives of Christian community from FATA and the province and others were also present on the occasion.

While wishing Merry Christmas to Christian community the governor has also prayed for their health and prosperity. He said by fostering religious forbearance and attitude of tolerance we can make a successful and stable Pakistan. Governor stated that we should reiterate our commitment to never let our enemy to exploit our differences. Paying tributes to the great contributions being made by non-Muslims for the development of the country, the governor said that minorities are the important segment of our society.

He said minorities especially Christians bear glorious role and services towards development and prosperity in every field, the education and health sectors particular in the country. While cutting the Christmas cake, the governor said the best way to celebrate the festivities would be to inculcate the universal teachings of the Prophet Christ on love, compassion, peace and fraternity. He also felicitated the community of Christmas.

Addressing the ceremony, Bishop of Peshawar, Hamphery Peter Sarfraz prayed for unity, strength and well-being of the country and said that non-Muslim communities of Pakistan are enjoying complete freedom as equal citizen of the beloved nation.
