PM will find a way to break deadlock with Sindh, says minister

Federal Minister for Pakistan Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique has said that there is no deadlock between the federal and Sindh governments and the lingering issues of Rangers’ powers would be resolved through talks.

Talking to reporters on Saturday, Saad Rafique said that the prime minister will find a way to resolve the issue through bilateral consultations and talks. He ruled out of the possibility of imposing Governor’s Rule in Sindh and said that some elements were trying to create conflict between two major political parties of country, but their nefarious designs would not prevail.

The minister for railways challenged Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Jehangir Tareen and said that he can’t succeed in local bodies (LB) election even if he runs the election campaign on 10 jet planes.

He, however, avoided commenting over the inclusion of Pakistan in the 34-national Islamic military alliance against terrorism led by Saudi Arabia.

To a question, the minister said that the transition of power under the Murree Agreement will take place in Balochistan by end of the ongoing month, however, the government will continue in consultation with sitting CM Dr Abdul Malik even afterwards. This is so they can gain benefit from his political experiences, especially while governing Balochistan.

He said that war and instability always bring destruction, adding that Pakistan has always made sincere efforts to mend its relations with India, and aimed to resolve the longstanding disputes.  He said that Indian PM Narendra Modi has also come to the conclusion that extremism was not going to favour the two neighbouring countries, which was matter of satisfaction.

Saad said that meeting of the premiers of the two countries and foreign secretaries level interactions have helped in rectifying the situation and further development in this regard was expected in the days to come.
