Armed men murdered member of District Council Haripur in the premises of the court and fled the scene on Saturday.
Police said that miscreants opened fire at Javed Khan; while he was present in District Katcheri Haripur to pursue a case. The body was shifted to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Haripur for post-mortem.
A protest was also held against the incident during which the protestors demanded to bring the culprits to book and awarding exemplary punishment to them.
Police claimed that the firing incident was outcome of old enmity, the murderers have been identified and efforts were underway to arrest them.
