Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has initiated the process for legal due diligence to avoid anomalies, if any, in the postponed Direct to Home (DTH) process.
Subsequent findings and recommendations will be presented before the authority in its next meeting for consideration of further course of action, said a press statement issued on Friday.
PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam has directed the Authority’s legal team to conclude the matter in order to give confidence to the potential investors and to dispel the wrong impressions being created in this regard.
He said that the DTH Licensing process would resume after all legal aspects are looked into because the decision taken in haste could have legal repercussions in future.
PEMRA in its 107th meeting held on December 4 had decided to defer the DTH bidding to give the new Chairman Absar Alam a reasonable time to fully understand the project, its criteria, procedures, guidelines and other important legal aspects.
