Imran opposes Pakistan’s participation in Saudi-led alliance

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan Friday demanded the government to subject participation in Saudi Arabia’s 34-country alliance against terrorism to discussion in the Parliament.
Talking to the media at Allama Iqbal International Airport, he criticised the government for not deeming it appropriate to discuss the issue in the Parliament.
Khan said that he is criticised for not going to the Parliament but why should he attend sessions when fate of different important matters is decided outside.
He said that participation in Saudi alliance is not a trivial matter since the country is already enduring aftermath of alliance with United States.
Talking about Rangers’ extension in special powers in Karachi, the PTI chairman said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) have joined hands against the Rangers to protect corrupt persons and armed wings.
“The people of Sindh on one hand are favouring targeted operation led by Rangers while on the other political parties are trying to cripple the special powers. Certain elements are using pressure in name of ‘democracy’ to tie Rangers’ hands,” he said.
The PTI chairman also said that his party would take part in the general elections in 2018 with full force. PTI would not tolerate rigging in the general elections like the local body (LB) polls, he added.
He said that a new approach that is aimed at lessening poverty by boosting trade with India is required.
