Gut narrowly beats Vonn in Apline Combined World Cup

Lara Gut edged out Lindsey Vonn by the narrowest of margins to take Alpine combined World Cup top spot in Val d’Isere, France.

Gut picks up 100 World Cup points for the win after she posted a combined time of 2:38.30 to edge out the American by 0.01 seconds.

The Swiss skier posted a first-run time of 1:44.51 which was good enough for second as Vonn took the early advantage with a time of 1:44.13.

But Gut came back strong in the second run to clock 53.79 while Vonn managed 54.18.

Third on the day went to Austria’s Michaela Kirchgasser who was 0.91 behind Gut and held off the challenge from Marusa Ferk.
