294 POs, 1,078 court absconders arrested

Police have arrested 294 proclaimed offenders and 1,078 court absconders during the last month.
The police have smashed 69 gangs of criminals and arrested their 186 members and recovered stolen items worth Rs 20 million. The police had traced 224 cases against the gangsters.
As many as 301 cases registered against 301 accused for having illegal weapon and police also recovered three kalashnikoves, seven rifles, 18 guns, 321 revolvers and pistols, six daggers and 36,512 rounds. During the action against drug dealers, 512 cases were registered and 518 culprits were arrested with 53kg heroin, 168kg charas, eight kg opium and 3,823 bottles of liquor.
Moreover, 86 cases were registered against gamblers and 432 accused arrested and also recovered amount more than Rs 300,000. During a special crackdown, 368 cases were registered against 370 culprits on the violation of law.
Meanwhile, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf directed officers for the implementation of the National Action Plan and to utilise their full energies to curb crime in the city and arrest criminals.
