Police on Thursday arrested three criminals while a case was launched against an assistant jailer and a clerk of the Central Jail for setting four terrorists free.

The case has been registered with New Town Police Station against Assistant Jailer Kamal Hussain and Clerk Zafar of the Central Jail for releasing four terrorists from lockups. The terrorists at large have also been nominated in the case.

According to the police, the case has been registered under Section-223 and Section-224. All four militants were arrested for having possession of explosives.

Separately, law enforcers conducted an operation on Zam Zama Street in Clifton and apprehended a police constable among three culprits. Police said that a fake driving license and weapons were seized from Bakht Ali and his accomplice’s possession.

The federal government and law enforcement agencies have collaborated to free Karachi of target killings, terror outfits operatives and street crimes. The collaboration came into being in form of a targeted operation launched in September 2013. The operation was led by Pakistan Rangers. The federal and provincial government extended Rangers authority in Karachi whenever it was needed in the past.

The locals in different districts of Karachi support Rangers’ stay. Target killings and cases involving other crimes have lessened since the start of operation.
