The Punjab Revenue Authority has imposed tax on snooker and body building clubs in the jurisdiction of Rawalpindi division and has started issuing notices to them for its payment.

According to details, PRA has stared registration of snooker and body building clubs in the Rawalpindi division which have sprung up all over and more than 150 notices have been issued and the process continues. All the notices had been issued by deputy commissioner PRA.

Further it has asked the owners of clubs to register their businesses according to section 25 of service act, and after the registration all the clubs and gyms would submit 16% sales tax to Govt every month, sales tax has been imposed on every indoor game running as business, they have been told.

Meanwhile citizens, particularly the youths have expressed their concern on the imposition of tax on indoor games and said this would put additional burden on them as the clubs would ultimately shift the tax on the users of the facilities. They said that by imposing the tax, the government was denying a healthy facility to the citizens.
