Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday took strict notice of the arrests of the civil society members for holding protest demonstration outside Lal Masjid and directed action against the authorities responsible.
The interior minister condemned the arrests of civil society members for protest demonstration against Lal Masjid cleric Maulana Abdul Aziz and said that peaceful protest is the right of every citizen of the country.
He directed the inspector general of Police (IGP) Islamabad, to personally identify the police officials involved in the arrests and ordered to suspend them and take legal action against them.
The minister also asked the concerned authorities to submit a report into the issue within a couple of days.
