I work at a textile company situated at Bin Qasim and have to commute through Malir every day, but the incomplete Malir flyover has become a continued source of discomfort and irritation for both commuters and local residents.
The project was supposed to be completed by December 2014 but it is still under construction as it has suffered substantial delays due to lack of funds. The incomplete project creates frequent traffic jams and severe road congestion throughout the day, which ultimately leads to long travel times for a large number of commuters on a daily basis.
The affected people are those employees and workers who have to reach the Bin Qasim and Landhi Industrial Areas, the Export Processing Zone and the Pakistan Steel Mills. In the opposite direction, the same route also leads to the airport and Shahra-e-Faisal. Due to the delayed construction of the flyover, people cannot reach their workplaces on time which is also resulting in heavy losses to companies in terms of lower productivity and efficiency.
I appeal to the local administration to stop extending the deadline further and complete the project without any more delay.
