SHC adjourns contempt hearing against Sindh IG till December 22

Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday adjourned the hearing of contempt of court case against Inspector General Sindh (IG) Ghulam Haider Jamali and 14 others till December 22.

 

The two member bench of SHC comprising Justice Ahmed Ali M. Sheikh and Justice Farooq Shah  was hearing the case during which IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali was also present.

 

The court asked about the absence of Advocate General Sindh on which Assistant Advocate General Sindh said that he was unable to appear in court due to his bad health.

The court adjourned the hearing till December 22.

 

Earlier, IG Sindh Ghulam Haider Jamali submitted another affidavit in the SHC to avoid indictment in the contempt of court case.

 

In his affidavit, Ghulam Haider Jamali requested the court not to indict him in the case and withdraw the show-cause notice issued to him.

 

Inspector General of Sindh Police and others were charged in contempt of court case for the siege of the High Court’s building and torture on the former home minister Dr Zulfiqar Mirza‘s guards and media men by Commandos of the Special Security Unit (SSU) on March 23.

 

The policemen had also smashed several parked vehicles and snatched cameras from journalists in the court premises.
