A militant of banned outfit and 44 suspects have been arrested during a search operation in different areas of Bilitang Kohat.
A proclaimed offender of a heinous case was also apprehended in the operation. A huge quantity of arms and narcotics were also recovered from the possession of arrested persons.
In raids two DSPs, five SHOs and heavy police contingents took part. After Intelligence reports of possible sabotage acts the security has been tightened across the district.
The DPO Kohat Mohammad Sohaib Ashraf told the media persons that in the sequence of search operation launched against suspected militants, wanted outlaws and criminal elements, the police on Monday early in the morning raided a house in Orakzai Banda and arrested a militant of banned outfit TTP Orakzai agency namely Mohammad Haroon. The arrested militant was wanted to provincial police and security forces in Placing explosives, attacks on security forces and murder and attempted murder cases.
In the operation another proclaimed offender Fazal Rehman involved in a threatening calls case has been also apprehended by police. During the operation police raids on hideouts of criminals 44 suspects including 8 criminals possessing arms and drugs were taken into custody. Two guns, four pistols, one rifle, dozens of cartridges and two kilograms of cannabis were also seized. The operation lasted four hours and the area had been cordoned off while snap checking in different places had been continued to search Vehicles and individuals in the area.
The DPO Kohat further stated that in another joint search operation conducted by local police and intelligence agency DSB in Kohat Development Authority (KDA) the police rounded up a prisoner, who had escaped during the Bannu jailbreak. The militant identified as Haisiyat Ali, had escaped during Bannu jailbreak in 2012. The militant had been imprisoned in Bannu Prison in connection with terror activities and murder cases.
