Audit report reveals Rs 710m corruption in Punjab prisons

2014 audit report has revealed a corruption of Rs. 710 million in Punjab Prisons.

According to audit report, Rs 710 million was allocated for the welfare, canteen and food management of inmates but Inspector General Jail Punjab has invested the money in different banks for personal interest on high interest rate.

As per law, IG was supposed to take recommendation from ministry of finance before investing money in banks but he surpassed them. Online inquired with the IG but he denied to respond.
