Madhuri Dixit, who has won hearts not only with her acting but also with her dancing skills, said she was scared of dancing with Prabhudeva. “I have danced with almost every hero and I am comfortable with every one of them. Only with Prabhudeva was I scared to dance. And then when I danced with him, it was an amazing experience,” she said at an event.

For Madhuri, dance is a spiritual experience that brings her pleasure and happiness. “Dance gives me a spiritual kind of an experience. It has been my passion and has become my happiness. I wish to spread my happiness to all,” she said. The 48-year-old also shared that she has been learning dance since she was three.

Speaking at an event to announce the collaboration of her online dance academy ‘Dance with Madhuri’ with an Indian corporation, she shared that acting may be her first love but dancing is her passion. The platform is available in numerous countries across the world with well-known dance gurus offering guidance to students.

Noted dancers, such as Saroj Khan, Remo D’Souza, and Pandit Birju Maharaj, are among the gurus part of the online portal. “You can learn from the best gurus who are experts of their respective dance styles at your own convenience,” said Madhuri.

“It’s important for housewives, who devote their entire time to family and don’t get time for themselves, and this will be good for them as they can learn dance without going anywhere. This gives me great happiness that they can learn any form of dance that they want and that they’ll be their own masters,” said the reigning dance queen.

Of the motivation behind ‘Dance with Madhuri’, she said, “I was intending to share this experience, pleasure and happiness with numerous people and wanted dance to reach every household and for every person to learn dance at some level.”

Madhuri also created a mobile app for the platform a few months ago. Her husband, Sriram Nene, is involved with the business aspect of the academy. On the acting front, Madhuri, who was last seen in Gulaab Gang, said she is looking for a good script for her next film.

“We have ‘maha gurus’ and we have good choreographers from Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa. It is important to have good gurus. People who are talented can bring out talent in others,” adds Madhuri.

Having starred in several blockbuster films over a career that spans more than two decades,  Madhuri’s dancing skill, seen in films like Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Khalnayak, Anjaam, Devdas and many, many others, is still remarkably appealing. But ask Madhuri about Bollywood’s current crop of actors and their dancing skills, consider her impressed.

“A lot of girls are good at dancing like Katrina Kaif, Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Sonakshi Sinha. I was surprised to see Alia Bhatt dancing on one of the shows, Shraddha Kapoor did a good job in ABCD 2,” said Madhuri recently in an interview.

According to the 48-year-old star, things were tougher back in the day when she was still in her prime. “There were lots of things, as you are learning every day. I remember I was doing this song ‘Humko Aaj Kal Hai…’, and in the initial beats I had to go down…lying on the floor. It was typical Bollywood and I did not know how to do it. And once when I was rehearsing for it, I banged my head so hard on the floor that there was a big boil,” confessed Madhuri.
