The Sindh High Court (SHC) has summoned senior Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar on January 21 on the request of Rangers’ legal counsel.

Pakistan Rangers  on Thursday sent a Rs50 crore legal defamation notice to Waseem Akhtar.

Rangers officials approached SHC and lodged a case against Waseem Akhtar for leveling false and baseless allegations against the paramilitary force. They said that the accusations against them have created an irreversible loss and were an attempt to stain the image of state institution.

The baseless and false accusation of Waseem Akhtar has caused an irreversible damage to the state institution, Rangers notice said.

The SHC has ordered Waseem Akhtar to appear before the court for presenting counter arguments on the next hearing.
