President for enhancing trade with African countries, Germany

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan is keen to enhance trade, investment and defence cooperation and establish joint ventures with the African countries.

He was talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Sudan Zahid Ali in Islamabad on Thursday.

The president noted that Pakistan’s annual trade of about 3 billion dollar with all African countries was far below its potential and called for making concerted efforts to further expand the trade relations. He advised the envoy-designate to strive for regular exchange of parliamentary, business and cultural delegations for imparting new impetus to Pakistan’s relations with Sudan and other co-accredited African countries.

Meanwhile, talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Germany, Jauhar Saleem, President Mamnoon Hussain said that Pakistan wanted to enhance bilateral trade and promote exchange of parliamentary, business and cultural delegations with Germany.

The president emphasized that Pakistan’s investment policy needed to be highlighted and the German investors may be encouraged to invest in diverse areas, particularly the energy sector. He underlined that Germany was Pakistan’s largest trading partner in Europe, adding that there was potential to further enhance the trade between the two countries.
