LHC confirms bail of DSP’s son in hit-and-run case

The Lahore High Court on Thursday confirmed bail of Talha Naveed, son of suspended DSP Naveed Irshad, in Johar Town hit-and-run case after victim’s father told the court that he had pardoned him.
The court also directed the accused to submit surety bond of Rs 100,000 for the purpose. The single bench comprising Justice Ch Mushtaq Ahmad heard the matter.
Earlier, Talha along his father and counsel appeared before the court. Deceased Bilal’s father Rana Shahid told the court that he had pardoned the accused. He said that although his family was deeply affected by the incident but it was an accident. Rana Shahid further said that he was giving the statement without any pressure.
At this, the court confirmed bail of the accused Talha Naveed and directed him to submit surety bond of Rs 100,000 for the purpose.
It is pertinent to mention that the court had already granted interim bail to accused Talha.
Talha was booked for killing an employee of a private news channel in a hit-and-run at Shadiwal Chowk, Johar Town, on Tuesday. 28-year-old Rana Bilal, a non-linear editor of Channel 24, was on his way home by a motorbike when a speeding car hit him near Shadiwal Chowk. Bilal suffered critical injuries and died on the spot.
