In a bid to cover up the administrative negligence, the district administration in Khushab dumped relief goods worth millions of rupees in river Jhelum on Thursday, a private TV channel reported.
Commodities including pulses, ghee, rice, milk and water bottles sent for flood affected people were thrown into river. The aid dispatched by the Punjab government was stored in Johar Memorial High School but was not distributed among the needy.
Additional Collector Khushab Rao Atif Shakeel loaded the items on three trucks the other night and tried to dump the goods. One truck got stuck while dumping the goods and the authorities unloaded all the items on riverside.
