Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji gave birth to a baby girl on 9 December. Rani Mukerji is married to YRF head Aditya Chopra and the couple have named their daughter Adira. She was born in the morning at Breach Candy Hospital, in Mumbai.
Adira is an amalgam of their names. Rani Mukerji released a statement and said that Adira’s birth has been “God’s greatest gift”.
The 37-year-old actress thanked her fans, friends and well wishers for their “unconditional support and blessings”. “I would like to thank all my well wishers and fans’, Rani said, ‘Today life has given us God’s greatest gift with Adira. We thank fans our friends and well wishers for their unconditional support and blessings. With joy we begin this new chapter in our lives.”
Rani and Aditya Chopra w0ho had for long been in a relationship, married in April 2014 in Italy.
Aditya’s younger brother Uday announced the birth of his niece on Twitter: “IT’S A GIRL!!!!!”; while the couple’s close friend and filmmaker Karan Johar shared: “Am an uncle to a beautiful baby girl today!!!!! @udaychopra !!! Rani and Adi had a baby girl!!”
It is the first marriage for Rani while Aditya, who is known to be a very private person, was previously married to Payal Khanna but they got divorced in 2009.
