Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Tuesday directed all the government departments to complete development projects in a timely manner which would help save funds for the national exchequer.
The PAC, which met with Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah in the chair, discussed audit paras of the Ministry of Water and Power for the year 2013-14.
Shah said that all department heads should ensure merit and take strict action against elements that are involved in illegal activities.
Discussing an audit para related to the National Engineering Council Services Pakistan Private Limited, the PAC directed the audit officials to look into the matter according to the procedure and then present a report on the irregularities to PAC.
The PAC chairman expressed displeasure over irregularities in expenditure in the appointment of officers on contract in National Engineering Services Pakistan (Pvt) and asked the officials concerned to submit a report in this regard within one month and fix responsibility for illegal appointments.
