A General body meeting of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Mazdoor Union (CBA) on Tuesday rejected the division of CDA after the local government elections in the capital.
CBA Union General Secretary Muhammad Yaseen, while addressing the workers, said that they reject the division of the CDA departments between the newly elected local government representatives and the CDA and promised to expose the “conspiracies” in this respect.
He announced a General Body meeting of CDA on December 14, at 2:00PM at the National Press Club to highlight their concerns and decide a future course of action.
Yaseen said that the CBA was prepared to make sacrifices to protect the rights of the employees. “Our contention is crystal clear: instead of dividing the CDA, the elected representatives should be given representation to defend the rights of the workers in future.”
He said that their opponents were bent upon misleading the employees through false propaganda. “Therefore, it has become important for us to become united and more active to defend the rights of employees,” he said and added that it was a pity that the CDA employees had been made to feel unprotected in the prevailing circumstances.
He also noted with concern that the present administration had not taken adequate steps for the satisfaction of the authority’s employees and had not implemented their demands that they had even agree to. This, he said, had caused serious anxiety among the workers. He accused the administration of taking decisions arbitrarily and unilaterally, to pursue its agenda in the wake of local government elections. He accused the administration of ignoring the CBA Union completely in the decision making process.
The Union appealed to the prime minister, Minister for State for CADD and the CDA chairman to extend their help to fully safeguard the rights of the employees in any post-election arrangement.
