Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pakistan in 2016 to participate in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit, Indian foreign minister Sushma Swaraj said on Wednesday.
According to local media, Swaraj revealed the news while speaking to reporters at Heart of Asia Conference.
“I will accompany the Indian premier during his trip,” she further said.
Sushma is attending Heart of Asia Conference, being held in Islamabad.
The last prime ministerial visit from India to Pakistan was by Atal Bihari Vajpayee in January 2004, also for the SAARC summit held that year.
