PTI conducting intra-party polls to ensure transparency: Sarwar

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab organiser Chaudhary Sarwar has said that he will resign from his position to ensure transparent intra-party elections.

Addressing a press conference, he said, “Despite reservations of majority about holding intra-party elections, the PTI has decided to do so. Though PTI had gained fewer seats in the LG elections, yet the vote bank of PTI has increased in millions.

He said that the intra-party elections will strengthen PTI. He also added that PTI is looking into the mistakes committed in the LG polls. Sarwar said that good governance will remain a dream in tenure of the PML-N government.

“Rulers with the inability to provide medicine to children and treatment to patients in a timely manner have no legitimacy to govern the nation. Pakistan Tehrik-e-insaf works on principles of democracy and all decisions are made after consultation,” he said.

Sarwar also said that PTI’s seven- member committee will decide the process of conducting intra-party elections and all PTI leaders will agree to the process defined by the committee.

“PTI is taking a huge risk by conducting intra-party polls and it is challenge for us to ensure that polls are held in a transparent manner,” chaudhry said.

He hoped that newly elected party office bearers will be elected purely on merit. Tickets will be awarded to those who have the urge to serve humanity and the people, he added.
