Approval has been granted in principle for the construction of a playland on two acres in Lahore Safari Zoo Park for the provision of modern recreational facilities to the children. The work on the playland to be built on BOT basis will be started during the current month.
This was stated by Director General Wildlife and Parks Khalid Ayaz Khan during a meeting at his office here on Tuesday regarding arrangements in Lahore Safari Zoo Park. Deputy Director Lahore Safari Zoo Park Syed Zafarul Hassan, Deputy Director Headquarters Naeem Bhatti besides other officers concerned were present. Khan said that the playland will be first playland to be built in any safari park. He said that an agreement will be signed by Deputy Director Lahore Safari Zoo Park and a private company Fun Dunya regarding the project next week and the construction work will be started during the current month.
Khan said that a sum of Rs135 million will be spent on the construction of the playland while recreational equipment for children, modern gadgets, swings and other items will cost extra money which will be spent by the private company. He said that period of agreement will be fixed in the light of rules and regulations of Punjab government. He said that the rate of ticket for recreational facilities in the playland will be fixed by Wildlife Department and the private company with mutual consensus.
