A division bench of the Lahore High Court was Monday informed that the land of Mominpura graveyard would not be acquired for Orange Line Metro Train project.
Additional Advocate General Punjab and Advocate Mustafa Ramday appeared on behalf of the Punjab government and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) before the bench headed by Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh and apprised that the land of Mominpura graveyard was not being acquired after the new survey of the project.
At this, the bench disposed off four petitions filed by Qazlbash Trust and others challenging acquisition of Mominpura graveyard land for the project.
However, the bench directed the Punjab government and LDA to file reply till December 14 on petitions filed against acquisition of land of Kapoorthala House, Chauburji and Thokar Niaz Baig areas for the project.
The petitioners through their petitions had assailed the project submitting that the requirements of Land Acquisition Act and Environment laws were not fulfilled.
