DIG Operations tells cops to pull up socks

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Operations Dr Haider Ashraf said that the urs celebration of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh and the Chehlum for martyrs of Karbla remained peacefully despite the terror threats.

He said the passage of both events peacefully is a success of Lahore Police. He instructed all SPs, DSPs and SHOs to visit the Chinese projects in their areas concerned and ensure their security.

He said that the security guards of schools, which are organising ceremonies in connection for paying tributes to APS victims, mush be imparted with training. He further said that the Lahore Police will ensure foolproof security arrangements on the eve of Christmas and Eid Miladun Nabi.

He issued directions to uplift the boundary walls of those churches which are not up to the mark. He was chairing a high-level meeting of police officers in Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Lines.

All the divisional SPs, DSPs, SSP VVIP Security Athar Ismail, SP Security Liaqat Ali Malik and SP Headquarters Omer Saeed were also present in the meeting. Ashraf said that the clerics from Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat must be conveyed to ensure code of conduct during the processions of Eid Miladun Nabi. He instructed officers concerned to visit the offices of all media houses and ensure their safety. He said that it must be ensured that security guards, CCTV cameras and walk-through gates are installed in all the markets and banks of the city.

Ashraf instructed authorities concerned to shift all the police stations in the permanent buildings and sought the feasibility report in seven days from those police stations which are working in rented buildings. He said that biometrics machines had been installed in all the police stations and every cop must ensure his attendance through thumb impression. He stated that the crime rate in the city has been decreased by the patrolling of Police Response Unit and a sense of safety among the citizens is being prevailing. He said that the crackdown against the proclaimed offenders must be enhanced and raids must be conducted for their arrests after making a comprehensive plan.
