Khurshid Shah is shedding crocodile tears about rising prices. He should know that prices are tied closely to productivity.
May I remind him that the first PPP government hammered the first nail into the coffin of productivity by overloading industry and public sector with hordes of untrained jiyalas.
The second one reinstated, with hefty arrears, those that had been removed being surplus to requirement.
The third one even passed a law to legalise such activities which strike at the very root of productivity.
Today industry and public sector stand crippled, as also the water-starved agriculture. So productivity is down and prices are up.
