Pakistan Foreign Office says Washington has not yet contacted Islamabad regarding Tashfeen Malik, the suspected female shooter allegedly involved in the carnage that recently took place in California.
US-born Muslim Syed Farook, 28, and 27-year-old Tashfeen Malik, who were killed in a shootout with police, are said to have carried out the rampage that left 14 dead and 21 wounded in San Bernardino city, in southern California.
US State Department Deputy Spokesperson Mark C. Toner, said in a daily briefing that Tashfeen Malik was a Pakistani woman who travelled to the US.
However, according to reports, US authorities have not contacted Pakistan regarding the investigation so far. “If information is shared, Pakistan can hold its own investigation,” a report said.
“According to our information, her fiancé moved Tashfeen Malik to America from Saudi Arabia. There are nearly eight million Pakistanis abroad, so it is unfair to drag Pakistanis into every incident,” the report added.
