More women voters come out in rural areas: Males lead in urban areas

More women voters in rural areas casted their votes in the local bodies’ elections on Saturday as compared to male voters, while the situation remained vice versa in the urban areas.

More than 75 per cent women voters casted their vote in first half of the day in rural areas of Taxila district including Ghari Sikandar, Ahata, Ghari Afghana, Usman Khattar and Gawalian.

While, in urban areas of Taxila including Taxila Chowk, Kohistan Colony, Toheed Abad and Nai Abadi the ratio of male voters remained high.

The turnout in these areas was about 70 percent, who had casted their votes before mid-day.

Sharing their views with APP, voters said they have strong expectations with these elections as they want solutions to long-standing problems, so they had come out to exercise their right to vote.
