Tight security arrangements made for LB polls

The police department has made tight security arrangements during polling of 3rd phase of local bodies (LB) elections scheduled to be held at Jhang on Saturday (December 5).

A spokesman of the police department said on Friday that four SPs, 26 DSPs, 34 inspectors, 30 sub-inspectors and assistant sub-inspector, 713 head constables and 3,885 constables have been deputed for security duty across the district.

He told that 1,511 Police volunteers will also assist the security personnel whereas 60 constables have been appointed as gunmen along with returning officers, assistant returning officers and other personalities.

Similarly, 3719 Jawans of special reserve police force will also perform security duties at various polling stations in this district where 134 polling stations have been declared most sensitive and 333 sensitive, he added.

He said that 13 police personnel will perform security duty at each most sensitive polling station whereas 10 security officials will remain alert at each sensitive polling station.

The spokesman said 2,500 male constables and 150 lady constables have also been invited from Faisalabad for security duty in Jhang whereas troops of Park Army and Ranger have also reached Jhang to assist the police in making tight security arrangements.

Police, Army, Rangers hold flag march: Law enforcement agencies conducted a joint flag march in the city as part of intensifying security arrangements here Friday for local bodies polls scheduled to be held on Saturday (tomorrow).

The flag march convoy, comprising many Police, Army and Rangers vehicles, was led by SSP Operations Dr Atif.

Superintendents of Police, DSPs, SHOs and other police officials were part of the convoy that started from Police lines and returned to the same point after passing through cantonment area, Mumtazabad, general bus stand, Qazzafi Chowk, Masoom Shah road, Daulat gate, area around walled city, Chungi No 9 and Gulgasht colony.

Dr Atif said that a flag march was held to warn the anti-social elements that law enforcers and security forces were in a high state of alert and any attempt to harm peace will be thwarted at all costs.
