Minister of State for Capital Development and Administration and PML-N leader Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has expressed the confidence that the tally of PML-N seats of union council chairman in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) local government elections would cross thirty.

Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, he said that PML-N had won 22 seats, PTI 16 and independents 12 in Monday’s elections. He said that four of the independents had applied for PML-N tickets and they were staunch workers of the party. The party, he said, was also in touch with four others while the remaining four might also join PML-N.

He rejected allegations of rigging leveled by PTI and said those were baseless. He said people had now become allergic to these allegations and wanted PTI to play a constructive role for their betterment.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Islamabad for reposing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said that PML-N fared well both in urban and rural areas of the capital. He said that PML-N had made inroads even in those areas of the city which were previously considered to be strongholds of PTI.
