A local court Wednesday ordered case registration of a PIA plane crash that killed 45 people in Multan nine years ago.

A senior judge, Justice Nazeer Ahmed Siddiqui, doctors and professors and several crew members were also among the ill-fated passengers who died when their Lahore-bound Fokker crashed soon after take-off from the Multan airport on July 10, 2006.

District and Sessions Judge Multan issued its ruling on Wednesday ordered investigation into the incident and inclusion of names of Pakistan International Airline and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials in the FIR.
