Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah has been freed from charges in Bhola Gujjar murder case for want of evidence.
Convicted assassin Naveed alias Commando was given death sentence for killing Asghar Ali alias Bhola Gujjar and his driver on January 8.
The confessional statement of Naveed was submitted in the anti-terrorism court by SSP operations Irfanullah. The statements of other nominated accused including Sanaullah were also recorded in the case.
Naveed had recorded his statement to police, claiming that Rana Sanaullah told him Gujjar had gained much clout and could challenge his position by joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.
He said he approached Gujjar and spotted his vehicle near Seeta Ram temple and opened fire on him, killing him. ‘Commando’ said he carried out the killing as the minister had assured him of protection.
He claimed Sanaullah had given him an iPhone set and through Viber “I informed the minister about killing of Gujjar and he applauded me.”
