Provincial Minister for Health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has urged upon the Sindh chief secretary to provide additional police force and law enforcement personnel for security of polio teams in Karachi because there is a dire need to launch a hectic campaign against polio on war footing basis.
He said that polio cases were detected in Karachi and polio must be eradicated in the metropolitan city.
To ensure the drive a success the chief secretary, minister health and secretary health Sindh have delegated their powers to the commissioner to take against health officials who are found involved in negligence while performing their polio duties. Meanwhile, the minister for health will hold meetings in different parts of the province to see grounds realities regarding health care facilities in interior Sindh.
He added that all efforts would be made to provide better health care facilities to the people. Ten long absent doctors were called for personal hearing, out of which only two doctors appeared before the minister health.
Over the situation, the minister directed the secretary health to take strict action against absent doctors and issue final show cause notices to them and if they failed to comply with the order, they might be removed from their service.
