A two-member bench of the Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by Federal Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique against an interim order of Election Tribunal in NA-125 case, after declaring it ineffective.
The division bench headed by Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard the matter which was filed in 2014.
During the hearing, Saad’s counsel Najeeb Chaudhry apprised the bench that the tribunal had already decided the matter and now the appeal was pending before the Supreme Court against the verdict.
At this, the bench disposed of the petition after declaring it ineffective.
Rafique assailing interim orders of the tribunal submitted that tribunal did not issue orders for verification of voters’ thumbs impressions as per law in NA-125.
“Orders to re-open the record of some polling stations have been given only to benefit one party,” he added. He requested the court to declare orders as null and void.
