Federal Minister for Railways and senior PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique has urged the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to review its code of conduct, expressing concerns over the PTI and JI chiefs being stopped from holding public rallies.

He was addressing a ceremony in connection with PTI workers joining PML-N, held on Sunday.

Saad Rafique said that barring political leadership from contacting their voters was surprising and ECP should reconstitute the code of conduct in accordance with democratic norms that are acceptable for all stakeholders.

The minister said that JI chief Sirajul Haq should clarify how a religious party was aligned with a liberal party. Saad said that he lauds Siraj for his alliance with a liberal party but he should also clarify his ideological basis for this decision.

He clarified that though thousands attend public gatherings of political parties but masses vote only in favour of the parties and persons who serve them and struggle for their basis rights.
