A Lahore High Court division bench Monday issued notices to National Accountability Bureau (NAB) for December 2 on a petition filed by Sheikh Afzal’s son Haris Afzal against his arrest.
The division bench comprising Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbasi and Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf heard the matter.
During the hearing, petitioner’s counsels Pir Masood Chisti and Ramzan Chaudhry submitted that the NAB had arrested Haris Afzal on allegations of fraud, forgery and illegal sale of property. They contended that all allegations levelled against the accused were baseless. They pleaded the court to order release of the accused after declaring the arrest illegal.
The bench after hearing initial arguments issued notices to the NAB and sought reply.
According to details, NAB Lahore has arrested Haris Afzal in worth Rs 1 billion case. The accused was arrested on allegations of fraud, forgery and illegal sale of property situated in Dubai already surrendered to NAB in Sheikh Afzal’s case (Bank of Punjab Scam).
