The Lahore High Court Monday extended stay against 14 percent increase in the price of the gas.
The single bench comprising Justice Mirza Viqas Rauf passed the orders while hearing a petition challenging the recent increase in the gas prices.
The court extended the stay after Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority’s (OGRA) counsel sought time to file detailed reply in the matter.
The petitioner through his petition submitted that the OGRA had increased the prices of gas by 14 percent on request of the Gas Companies.
He said that the OGRA approved the hike in the prices without holding any public hearing which was a mandatory requirement for the purpose.
The petitioner contended that the step was illegal and unconstitutional. He pleaded the court to set aside notification for 14 percent hike in the gas prices.
