Dengue fever has become a year-round disease in Karachi with Dengue cases being reported in the city even when the weather has already turned cold.
At least 125 more dengue fever cases have been reported across the Sindh province in a week, out of which 121 were detected from Karachi city.
New cases surfacing in the winter season is a troublesome development for Karachiites and points to negligence of concerned authorities.
As per weekly report issued by Dengue Prevention and Control Program Sindh, a total 3,414 dengue fever cases were reported from Sindh since January 1 this year; out of these 3,333 were detected from Karachi city. Ten people have died from dengue fever in the city this year so far.
From November 23 to 29, 125 new dengue fever cases emerged across the province, out of which 121 were reported from Karachi, three from Hyderabad and one from Badin.
The report further stated that of the total 3,414 dengue fever reported cases, 3,333 were reported from Karachi, 34 from Hyderabad, nine from Larkana, eight from Mirpurkhas, seven from Umerkot, five from Jamshoro, four from Shaheed Benazirabad, three each from Thatta, Sukkur and Ghotki, two from Sanghar and one each from Shikarpur, Badin and Jacobabad.
