Women participation in local body elections would bring a positive change at grass root in socio-economic empowerment of women and redress grievances of common women in our patriarchal society.

Senator Nuzat Sadiq while talking to APP here on Wednesday said no society can progress without participation of women, adding, our women are educated, talented and competent enough to work shoulder to shoulder with their male counter parts.

Women are more dedicated to their work; she said adding that they are well aware of their problems so they raise voice on relevant issues more affectively.

It is a good omen that women now come forward to join politics as they know that change can be brought through active participation in policy making rather than living as a suppressed segment of the society.

This time a good number of women are contesting the forth coming local government elections to be held on 30 November in federal capital, besides political parties women have also registered themselves as independent candidates, she remarked.

Better health facilities are the key issue for women, the senator said adding that their workers have drafted a plan to generate funds and work on self help basis for ensuring quality health services to everyone without any discrimination of class, literacy or native of rural or urban areas.

It is internationally acknowledged that community involvement produce better and quick results, she stated adding, when these women themselves work for their areas a significant change would be observed both at behaviour as well as economic level of the masses.
