This has been reported in the mainstream print media, Nov 27, that PTI and JI’s candidates in the upcoming union council elections in Karachi are using portrait of a convicted murderer in a direct challenge to state and judiciary. Photo of Mumtaz Qadri, murderer of Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, is being prominently displayed on PTI and JI election posters to play with the sentiments of general public in a crude way.
In other words, they are conveying the message that if you support Qadri’s action, then vote for them. Qadri is a convicted murderer, sentenced to death by ATC, LHC and SCP; no one should be allowed to garner votes in his name. Earlier, Dr Aafia used to be portrayed by JI in its election campaign; this time it’s Mumtaz Qadri. We request both ECP and ISPR to take notice of this open violation of rules outlined in the National Action Plan and elections code of conduct. JI and PTI should be officially stopped from sowing the seeds of hatred and exclusiveness.
