8th international Urdu conference to start from Dec 8

The 8th international Urdu conference will be organised by the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, from 8 to 11 December 2015, said Council’s Secretary Ahmed Shah while addressing a press conference at Karachi Arts Council on Saturday.

Initiated by the Arts Council Karachi from 2008, the Urdu conference has been a regular annual feature eagerly awaited by the literary enthusiasts and cultural figures of the city. Shah said a number of scholars of Urdu from all over the world, especially from India, would take part in the moot. He said visas had been issued to all those Indians willing to participate in the moot.

Shah said the participants from other parts of the world belonging to Urdu language and literature would also attend the conference and present their papers. He said the moot would also discuss the matters of award returning by the eminent personalities of India. He said along with Urdu literature, special session for the children literature would also be conducted in the three-day conference.

Karachi Arts Council’s Adabi (literature) Committee Chairperson, Haseena Mueen, while lauding the steps of council said if people forced to divert towards the literature, the arts council would help those to go ahead in the field of language and literature. She announced that the arts council was going to publish literary magazine in which the pieces of old and new poets would be published.

Arts Council Vice President Prof Sahar Ansari said that people wanted peace and comfort and such types of programmes would provide them activities and help enhance their acknowledgment. Arts Council President Aijaz Ahmed Farooqui also talked during the conference.
