Lahore airport gets new system for safe landing during dense fog

Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif Saturday inaugurated latest modern Instrumental Landing System CAT III-B at Allama Iqbal International Airport, Lahore.
Before the inauguration ceremony, a briefing was given to the chief minister regarding the functioning of the system.
After installation of this state-of-the-art system, there will be no more flight delays and diversions due to fog at the Lahore airport.
According to Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the system will facilitate aircraft landing in 50 meter visibility. The Allama Iqbal International Airport has become second airport in South Asia to have this facility.
It may be mentioned here that hundreds of flights are affected every year in Lahore due to dense fog and there has been a longstanding demand to install the system.
After Lahore, the ILS CAT III-B will also be installed at the New Islamabad International Airport.
Meanwhile, talking to newsmen at Lahore Airport prior to his departure for United Kingdom, the chief minister said that Pakistan and UK enjoy the best friendly and economic relations. He said his visit will further boost the mutual relations between the two countries.
During the visit, Sharif will meet the UK authorities and heads of various government departments and institutions.
